History reveals that jewelry boxes date back to 5000 B.C. in Egypt. They were used by men and women to protect and store their treasures. This vintage wooden box has a lid and drawer for storage and is hand painted with flowers for a feminine look. Who can resist a charming jewelry box and not want to know what’s inside? It was donated to the Botetourt Museum of History & Culture by Fincastle resident Angela Coon. She is an active historian and board member of the Botetourt County Historical Society for over 40 years.
