Botetourt County Historical Society, Inc. commissioned Brook Ludy to do this painting for Botetourt’s 250th celebration in 2020. Ludy specializes in painting pictures that feature local buildings and communities. She uses many different mediums such as colored Apple pencils, watercolors and acrylics on procreate. Her original painting is framed and in the Museum bookstore along with prints for $10. One can find local historic structures shown in this painting. They include the Jeter Barn, Botetourt Courthouse, Early Cabin, Roaring Run, Buchanan Theater, Buchanan Swinging Bridge, Daleville College, Wilson Walker Community House, Breckinridge Law Office, Breckinridge Mill, Old Jail, an iron furnace and the Moore Company’s lime kilns in Eagle Rock.
