This is an oil portrait of Mrs. Robert Archer. She was married to a prominent doctor whose portrait is above hers on the brick wall in the hall of the Botetourt County Museum. They were the father- and mother-in-law of General Joseph Reid Anderson. His portrait is next to theirs and was featured last August on the BCHS website and in The Fincastle Herald. Although her portrait is not signed, it was probably also painted by American William Garl Browne Jr. (1823-1894). All four large portraits were donated in 2009 by the estates of J. Douglas Gordon and Tanja F. Gordon of Richmond.
