This Breckinridge Family Bible was printed in Philadelphia in 1818. It is on the desk in the Gen. James Breckinridge Law Office in the Botetourt County Historical Museum. His wife’s name, “Mrs. Ann Breckinridge,” is clearly written near the top of one of the first pages. There is a description in the beginning, stating, “This Bible is ‘embellished with 11 maps and Historical Engravings.” Bibles can be genealogical gold mines since they were often used to record births, marriages and deaths.
