[SUBMITTED PHOTO]This is a portrait of Dr. William Neely Anderson (1806-1868). He was born at Walnut Hill, Fincastle, to parents Col. William Anderson and Ann Thomas Anderson. Dr. Neely studied at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. He practiced in Botetourt and lived near Catawba Furnace. Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Stone donated this framed portrait to the Botetourt County Museum where it is displayed along the upstairs steps.
