Botetourt County Parks & Recreation, in partnership with the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources (DWR), will present the third annual BOCO WILD on Saturday, June 14, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Buchanan Town Park. The event celebrates outdoor recreation and community engagement, showcasing the county’s diverse natural resources.
BOCO WILD is a free, family-friendly event offering a wide range of hands-on outdoor activities for all ages. Attendees can also visit a variety of local outdoor vendors. Educational experiences will also be featured, including wildlife education, boating and hunting safety, hiking tips, and the continuation of the community’s long-standing tradition of fishing instruction.
Formerly known as the Botetourt Fishing Carnival, the event has expanded to reflect the growing interest in a broader range of outdoor pursuits. In 2024, the celebration drew more than 650 participants, reflecting strong community enthusiasm and support for outdoor recreation in the region.
This year’s updated event time from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. provides even more opportunity for families and individuals to enjoy the offerings throughout the afternoon and early evening.
