December 1 was a cold and windy day, but that did not deter members of the Botetourt County Chapter DAR from gathering to decorate their tree in the first Tinsel Trail in downtown Fincastle. Members had gathered red, white and blue ornaments and flags to show their patriotism for the nation’s colors. Some of the ornaments were hand-painted especially for this tree, while clear glass ornaments were stuffed with small pieces of ribbon in patriotic colors.
Everyone is encouraged to stop by the Courthouse Square in Fincastle and see the trees that have been decorated for this Christmas season. The Tinsel Trail will remain open to the public throughout December.
The Daughters of the American Revolution is one of the largest patriotic women’s organizations in the world. For additional information about DAR and its relevant mission, visit www.dar.org.
