Botetourt Fire & EMS is inviting community members to participate in the 2025 Citizen’s Academy — a free, hands-on program designed to provide an inside look at local emergency services.

The Academy will be held Thursday evenings from September 4 through October 2, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Blue Ridge Station No. 1.

Each session will be led by experienced Fire & EMS professionals, offering participants the chance to gain real-world knowledge and practical skills, including:

  • Fire extinguisher use
  • CPR techniques
  • Stop the Bleed training
  • Fire safety education
  • Overview of specialized rescue operations

The Citizen’s Academy is ideal for anyone interested in learning how emergency services operate, exploring volunteer opportunities, or simply engaging in a unique community experience.

Registration is free, but space is limited. The deadline to register is August 20.

For more information or to register, visit www.botetourtfireems.org or email fireems@botetourtva.gov.
