The Lord Botetourt girls soccer team shut out two district opponents last week but only got one win out of it. The Cavaliers tied William Byrd in Daleville, nil-nil, then beat William Fleming in Roanoke, 8-0.
LB and Byrd opened the Blue Ridge District season with their match last Tuesday. Both teams failed to score in regulation and played 10 minutes of overtime but nothing was settled at that point and the teams will look to play again on May 6 in Vinton.
Last Thursday the Cavalier offense was clicking against at Fleming. Bria Harvey had a three-goal hat trick, Katherine Woodward had two goals and Cailey Petrauskas, Victoria Race-Waller and Ally Wertz had one goal each. Woodward also had two assists and Maggie Caldwell, Wren Duckworth, Emma Ruhlman and Wertz had one apiece.
The Cavs come into the week at 2-4-1 and 1-0-1 in the district. They were scheduled to play at Northside Tuesday, followed by a game at Salem Thursday and home against Franklin County on Friday.
