The Lord Botetourt girls remained undefeated in soccer with a sweep of back-to-back games against William Fleming. The Cavs shut out the Colonels in both Daleville and Roanoke.
Last Friday at home LB took an 8-0 win over visiting Fleming as the game was stopped early by the slaughter rule. Heather Finley had a three-goal hat trick and other scores came from Brooke Krieder, Mary-Randall Plunkett, Alexis Borovich, Sidney Keyes and Marlee Newsome. Keyes also had two assists, Newsome, Anna Scott and Autumn Bonhotel had one assist each and Olivia Assenat had the shutout in goal.
On Monday Keyes led the scoring with two goals as LB took a 6-0 win over the Colonels on Fleming’s artificial turf field. Finley, Scott and Mackenzie Collins had one goal each while Borovich had a goal and an assist. Krieder, Allie Plenge and Mackenzie Tuck each had an assist.
Botetourt is now 8-0-3 overall, having tied Liberty Christian Academy last Thursday in Lynchburg by a 1-1 score. Briana Paivanas had LB’s goal.
“The varsity played an outstanding game,” said LB coach Giuseppe D’Arpa.
This week the girls play three games in as many nights. Christiansburg will be here tonight, followed by a game in Vinton against William Byrd on Thursday and a trip to Staunton River on Friday night.
