The Lord Botetourt girls are 5-1 after six games as the regular season nears an end. LB has back-to-back road games at William Fleming on Thursday of this week and at Franklin County Friday.
Last week the girls lost for the first time, dropping a 55-35 decision to a strong Carroll County team. The Cavs trailed by eight at the half and Carroll pulled away down the stretch.
“To their credit, they are a great team who only lost one game last season and returned everyone and added a phenomenal freshman,” said LB coach Renee Favaro. “We struggled on the boards and gave a great team second and third chance opportunities. We struggled to get back defensively, as they were clearly in better shape than us.”
The Cavaliers bounced back with a 48-32 win over Franklin County on Friday. The Cavs led by one at the half but made a run after intermission to pull away. Ally Spangler led with 15 points and Grace Taylor added 14. Jada Morgan had seven points and 11 rebounds.
On Saturday the girls were back home to host Narrows. Botetourt dominated out of the chute and went on to a 55-23 win. Freshman Taylor Orange led with 16 points, including 10 in the second quarter, and Taylor added 14.
“We are looking forward to getting back in the gym and getting ready for region playoffs the following week,” said Favaro.
