2nd Lt. George Kydd III was a Tuskegee pilot from Botetourt in the Army Air Force. Tuskegee Airmen were primarily African-American military pilots (fighter and bomber) and airmen who fought in World War II. His picture was shared by his son, Richard Kydd. Edward Barnett and his sister Judith Barnett researched and collected photographs and artifacts to document the history of the African American community in Botetourt and she has shared her collection with the Botetourt County Historical Society Museum in Fincastle. This exhibit for Black History Month in February is called “Finding What Has Been Lost.” For more information call the museum at 473-8394.
