The Lord Botetourt soccer teams are scheduled to host a Blue Ridge District tournament doubleheader tonight, but at press time inclement weather put that in jeopardy.
The tournament was scheduled to begin Tuesday at the sites of the third and fourth seeds, with semifinals Wednesday and the BRD championship for both boys and girls on Friday at William Fleming. The LB boys are the second seed and were scheduled to host the winner of a game between Northside and Staunton River at 5:30 p.m. tonight. The LB girls are the top seed and were scheduled to play the winner of a game between William Byrd and Northside tonight following the boys’ game. The championship games for both were scheduled for Friday at William Fleming’s stadium, but the weather may have something to say about that.
The girls come into the tournament at 12-4 overall and 9-1 in the district. They finished regular season play with three shutouts last week, defeating William Fleming, 10-0, William Byrd, 5-0, and Northside, 6-0.
The boys are 5-3-2 in the district and 5-9-2 overall. They dropped their regular season finale to Northside in Daleville last Friday, 3-2, but still held on to second place in the district. William Fleming is the top seed with a 10-0 BRD record.
