The Botetourt Kiwanis Club awards scholarships to high school seniors from funds generated by the various service activities conducted over each year. For 2021, six separate scholarships were awarded to deserving seniors at BTEC, Lord Botetourt, and James River.

Kiwanis scholarships are given to students who have demonstrated overall good character and a desire to help and serve others. Each recipient must also continue his/her education beyond the first 12 years by attending a college, a technical school, a two-year program, or other similar advanced program.

Scholarships were presented this year to the following recipients:

BTEC:  The John Blake and Ray Otey Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Emily Meadows.

The James R. Bushong Memorial Scholarship for Technical Education was awarded to Matthew Gentry.

LORD BOTETOURT HIGH SCHOOL:  Two students received scholarships.

The John Blake and Ray Otey Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Emma Mitchell.

A second John Blake and Ray Otey Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Cole Mattox.

JAMES RIVER HIGH SCHOOL: The John Blake and Ray Otey Memorial Scholarship for James River was awarded to Myla Lester.
