The public is invited to a Hymn Sing at 4 p.m. on Sunday, August 4, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, sponsored by Botetourt Music Academy. Botetourt Music Academy began in the fall of 2021 with a grant from the National Episcopal Church’s Roanridge Grant. This grant supports long-lasting projects in rural areas that will benefit the broader community. Though sponsored by the Episcopal Church and BMA rehearsals are housed at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Fincastle, BMA is simply an outreach for the community at large, regardless of school system or faith. BMA has offered children’s choirs for ages 5-18, and has reached out as far as Roanoke, with collaborations with Southwest Virginia Ballet, and Opera Roanoke. This fall, the great project for BMA is a Community Chorus, for adults and children age 12 and older. Dr. Jeffrey Sandborg will be directing the choir. This is an incredible opportunity for all in our community, as Dr. Sandborg has so much to offer. For more information, email music@stmarksfincastle.org. Come meet Dr. Sandborg on Sunday, August 4, 4 p.m., at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Fincastle, for a Hymn Sing.
