Two members of the Botetourt County Rotary Club have each received designation as a Paul Harris Fellow. As a point of reference, the Paul Harris Fellow recognition acknowledges individuals who contribute, or who have contributions made in their name, of $1,000 to The Rotary Foundation.
The mission of The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty. Many other notable figures have been named Paul Harris Fellows, including U.S. President Jimmy Carter, Russian President Boris Yeltsin, U.S. astronaut James Lovell, UN Secretary-General Javier Perez de Cuellar, and polio vaccine developer Jonas Salk. Becoming a Paul Harris Fellow is a noteworthy distinction.
Dee Nichols, who has been a Rotarian since 2018, has reached the initial milestone as a Paul Harris Fellow. She is a retired bank teller with over 30 years’ experience. She has worked with Salem Bank & Trust, BB&T, and Bank of Botetourt.
Anita Aaron, who has been a Rotarian since 2012, has reached the milestone of Paul Harris Fellow + 1. This means that she has, in essence, received the Paul Harris Fellow recognition twice. This is an outstanding accomplishment and speaks volumes of Aaron’s commitment to Rotary and the Botetourt community. She is the Director of Sales and Marketing for the Natural Bridge Historic Hotel and Conference Center.
The Botetourt Rotary Club meets monthly on the first and third Wednesday at noon at Bellacino’s in Daleville. A WebEx link is available for anyone wishing to attend via internet. All are welcome.
