The Lord Botetourt volleyball team improved to 12-1 with win over Cave Spring in Daleville Monday night.
The Knights took the Cavaliers to four sets, which is unusual against the defending Class 3 champs. Botetourt won the first two sets, 25-13 and 25-21, but Cave Spring stayed alive by edging LB in the third, 27-25. The Cavs then put it away with a convincing 25-10 decision in the fourth set.
Miette Veldman had a game high 29 kills for LB to go along with 13 digs. Jordyn Kepler had 41 assists and eight digs while Brooklyn Shelton had seven kills and Scottie Cook and Jenna Alam had five each. Kenleigh Gunter had eight digs and two aces and Alexis Ellis had seven digs and four aces.
Last week in Moneta the Cavs had no trouble beating Staunton River in three sets, all by the score of 25-8. Veldman had 19 kills, Shelton had six and Alam had five. Kepler had 31 assist and Gunter had 10 digs.
The Cavaliers were scheduled to host Northside on Tuesday and on Friday they’re home against William Byrd.
