Cynthia A. (Cindy) Brickey, 83, of Troutville, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025.
Cindy was born in Bedford County to Levi T. Citty and Ocie E. Overstreet. Along with her parents, Cindy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Carl W. Brickey; brother, John D. Citty; and son, Dale E. Roberts.
Cindy was a caring nurse and retired from the VA Medical Center in Salem where she was honored to care for America’s Veterans. She was a longtime member of Catawba Valley Baptist Church in Troutville,.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her daughter, Cynthia R. Morrow and husband, Ronnie of Durham, N.C.; son, Barry W. Roberts and wife, Cathy of Troutville; grandsons, John M. Roberts and wife, Samantha of Eden, N.C., Colin G. Benton and fiancé, Bella Nelson of Trinity, N.C.; granddaughter, Emily E. Roberts of Stoneville, N.C.; great-granddaughter, Emery Roberts; special cousins, Susan and Steve Bandy of Salem; lifelong friends, Janet and Jon Griesenbeck of Boones Mill; and many other friends and family.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Justin Weppner and his staff for the compassionate care they provided to our loving mother. Also, the staff of Friendship North for their respectful and compassionate care. The entire staff of Friendship Salem Terrace, where Mom called home, for the compassion, love, support, and friendship they have shown our mother and our entire family. We would also like to thank Susan Bandy for her dedication she has shown in helping us care for our mother.
The family receive friends on Friday, January 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Oakey’s East Chapel. Funeral Services were held on Saturday, February 1 at 10 a.m. at Oakey’s East Chapel with interment following in Mt. Union Cemetery in Troutville. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O.
