Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews are working to repair the bridge on Route 685 (Ball Park Road) over Craig Creek near the intersection of Route 615. Route 685 closed on August 11 for the work and will reopen on August 25. Work is being done Monday through Friday from 9 p.m.-3 p.m. VDOT cautions that slow rolls may delay traffic attempting to cross the bridge for 10 to 15 minutes periodically while equipment and materials are moved and placed along the bridge. Temporary lane closures may also be in place with flaggers controlling traffic at various times. Pedestrian access is available periodically throughout the night. A vehicle parking area is in place on the eastern side of the structure near Craig Creek Road in a gravel lot towards the end of Ball Park Road. There is also a staging/parking area on the western side of Ball Park Road for vehicles alongside the shoulder area. Once the bridge deck replacement is complete, paving operations will be performed during the day with an occasional slow roll to stop traffic.
