Elaine Williamson Brugh, 86, of Cloverdale, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on May 23, 1938, in Williamson, W.Va., to the late Hollis and Irene Williamson. At an early age, she and her family moved to Richwood, W.Va., where she attended and graduated from Richwood High School. After graduation, she moved to Roanoke and attended National Business College, where she earned an Associate Degree. She spent her working life in medical transcription and medical administration.
Elaine married the love of her life, Henry Brugh, on July 21, 1961. Together they raised two children, Martha and David, instilling in them the importance of Christian faith, hard work, and compassion for those in need.
Elaine was an active member of Rainbow Forest Baptist Church and passionate in her involvement in Sunday School classes and numerous Bible studies. Elaine enjoyed spending her free time with family, playing the piano, and helping friends, family and neighbors through difficult times, especially those with health-related crises.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Hollis and Irene Williamson; and her brother, Ronald. She is survived by her beloved husband, Henry; their children, Martha (Michael) Boggins, David (Jennifer) Brugh; step-daughters, Julie Riffey, and Deborah Prochaska; and her grandchildren, Seth (Jaime) McGuire, Kendal McGuire, Elaina (Joshua) Kohane, Marian (Liam) Pope, and Adam Brugh; great-grandchildren, Rylee and Emerson McGuire.
The family received visitors on December 31 from 12-1:30 p.m. at Oakey’s East Chapel in Bonsack. Funeral services followed at 2 p.m., with burial in Hillcrest Cemetery in Blue Ridge.
