Botetourt Technical Education Center (BTEC) Criminal Justice students (from left) Scotia Haxton, Ashley Denney and Kasey Tolley competed in the SkillsUSA Nationals in Louisville, Ky. this summer. After qualifying for the nationals by winning the SkillsUSA Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) Virginia competition in April, the students went up against 37 other state champions in the SkillsUSA Nationals. James River High School Assistant Princiapl Dr. Lisa Taylor accompanied the students for the competition. The students had a great learning experience and brought back increased knowledge about the competition in order to help prepare future participants, BTEC Principal Mike Ketron said. Participation at the national championship would not have been possible without the help of the Botetourt Education Foundation, he added.
