Buchanan “planted the seeds of tomorrow ” during the town’s annual Arbor Day Celebration last Wednesday as residents and representatives of the Virginia Department of Forestry gathered on the Buchanan Town Park.
Mayor Tristan Harris welcomed visitors and spoke on the importance of trees to the community and the role they play in shaping the community for future generations. Area Forester Dennis McCarthy presented the town its Tree City USA Recertification and spoke on his excitement on the town’s continued efforts to be stewards of trees throughout the community.
Following the presentations, there was an unveiling of the Buchanan Arbor Day Donors Plaque, followed by a planting of trees on the Buchanan Town Park.
