Buchanan Easter Egg Hunt
Buchanan invites you to take part in an old-fashioned Easter Egg Hunt this Saturday, March 25. Activities begin at 11 a.m. on the Town Park at 485 Lowe Street. Come early as the Easter Egg Hunt is fast paced. Children are encouraged to bring a basket to hold eggs. Parents are encouraged to bring cameras for selfies and family photos with the Eatser Bunny.
Buchanan Garden Festival
The Town of Buchanan is accepting applications from garden, outdoor living and home improvement vendors as well as artists and craft vendors for the Saturday, May 6 Buchanan Garden Festival. Applications are available on the town website at www.townofbuchanan.com or call the Buchanan Town Hall at 540-254-1212, Ext. 4.
Quick Draw Plein Air Art Competition
Artists wanted! The Buchanan Garden Festival announces the return of the Quick Draw Plein Air Competition. Each participant has two hours to create a unique work of art. After the paintings are completed, they will be displayed on the artists’ easels under the show tent from 12:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. During this time, the public will vote for their favorite piece to win the People’s Choice Award. Buchanan Arbor Day
The Town of Buchanan invites you to be part of Buchanan’s annual Arbor Day celebration by making a donation to help purchase trees to plant on the Buchanan Town Park and throughout town. Donations of any size are welcomed and will help make Buchanan a more beautiful place for future generations. Churches, civic organizations, schools, residents and families are invited to help plant a ceremonial tree on Friday, April 7 at 11 a.m. Representatives of the Virginia Department of Forestry will be on hand presenting the town recognition as a Tree City USA Community. Buchanan Town Spring Clean Up
Rain or shine on Saturday, April 15, 8 a.m.-2 p.m., a dumpster will be available on the parking lot at the Town Park on Lowe Street for town residents. Bring proof of town residency (water or tax bill or driver’s license). Each resident may bring two pickup truckloads or four carloads for free. Loads above that will be charged. No brush, leaves, tires, construction debris or toxic items including paint, oil, batteries, chemicals or pesticides. TVs, electronics and metal may be recycled at the landfill. Appliances, furniture, and other household items will be accepted for disposal. You must be able to lift items over head into a tall dumpster. For more information, call the Town Hall, 254-1212.
