- Buchanan Arbor Day – Buchanan celebrates Arbor Day with a commemorative tree planting this Friday, April 2 at 11 a.m. Trees and supplies are being purchased through donations made by residents, businesses and civic organizations, as well as a grant from the Virginia Department of Forestry through the Trees For Clean Water Program. Trees planted on the Town Park will not only provide beauty and shade for future generations, they will help absorb and slow down precipitation, filtering it before it reaches the James River, to help reduce potential erosion into the river. The event features a brief program culminating in the unveiling of the Buchanan Arbor Day Donors Plaque. All participants are requested to follow COVID-19 guidelines during the event.
