Small Business Saturday – Save the date of Saturday, Nov. 28 to show your support for locally owned businesses by shopping and dining with them on this day. Buchanan encourages you to be part of this national trend and reminds you to shop small and shop local either in person or online. Be sure to check your favorite businesses’ Facebook pages for hours and specials.

Buchanan Virtual Tree Lighting – Buchanan invites you and your family to make memories as Buchanan kicks off the Christmas season on small business Saturday, Nov. 28 with a virtual Tree Lighting at 7 p.m. While COVID may prevent a traditional gathering along the sidewalks of Main Street, Buchanan will be hosting a Virtual Tree Lighting with a live Facebook post allowing you to enjoy the lighting from the comfort of your home or car. Santa will lead the countdown, then throw the switch to light the Town Christmas Tree and Festival of Lights on the Buchanan Town Park. The public is welcome to enjoy the lights along Main Street, the Town Tree as well as the new light display on the Town Park. Special thanks to sponsors Bank of Botetourt and The Bank of Fincastle. In addition to the lights, the Buchanan Theatre will be showing the holiday classic “It’s A Wonderful Life” at 7:30 p.m.

Buchanan Festival of Lights – Discover Buchanan’s newest Christmas tradition, Festival of Lights. The display will be lit as part of the Town’s Virtual Tree Lighting on Saturday, Nov. 28 at 7 p.m. The light show will be open to the public for drive thru each Friday, Saturday and Sunday through Christmas from 5-9 p.m. Special thanks to sponsors Bank of Botetourt and The Bank of Fincastle. For additional information, call 254-1212, Ext. 4.

Buchanan Soup Drive – The Town of Buchanan is collecting cans of soup for the Backpack Buddy Program. Bring cans of soup to the Buchanan Town Hall on Main Street. Please check the expiration dates to make sure they have not expired. Thanking you in advance for your continued support.

Luminary Volunteers Needed – The Town of Buchanan invites you to be part of our annual Christmas Eve Luminary Display. Volunteers are needed to help place luminaries along Main Street on Thursday, Dec. 24 at 3 p.m., and additional volunteers at 5:30 p.m. to help light luminaries. To volunteer, call the Buchanan Town Hall at 254-1212, Ext. 4.
