Buchanan Fall Market Day – Celebrate life in small town America during Buchanan’s first Fall Market Day on Saturday, Oct. 3 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Buchanan welcomes leaf peepers to town with an old-fashioned fall market showcasing local businesses as well as crafts, art, antiques and civic groups and churches setting up along the sidewalks as vendors. This is the perfect opportunity to visit the new businesses in town including winners of the Gauntlet Competition. In addition to these activities, the town is hosting a Curbside Carnival featuring food favorites of the Buchanan Community Carnival. Buchanan Curbside Carnival – While the Buchanan Community Carnival has been cancelled due to COVID-19, there’s still an opportunity to enjoy some of the favorite carnival foods on Saturday, Oct. 3. Some of the crowd’s favorite foods, including Carnival Fries, hot dogs and burgers, will be available through advance orders. Place an order by calling the Buchanan Town Hall at 254-1212. by Monday, Sept. 28. Curbside pickup will be on Oct. 3, noon until 2 p.m. on the Buchanan Town Park located at 485 Lowe Street
Buchanan Drive-Thru Trunk or Treating –Buchanan’s first ever Trunk or Treat will be held from 6-7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31 on the Buchanan Town Park. Trick or treat from the safety of the car as you drive through, roll down the windows, and collect candy for your trick or treat bags! The event will also feature a competition for the Best Mask, Best Decorated Trunk and Best Costume. Buchanan Town Fall Clean Up – Rain or shine on Oct. 17, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. A dumpster will be available on the parking lot at the Town Park on Lowe Street for town residents. Bring proof of town residency (water or tax bill or driver’s license). Each residence may bring two pickup truckloads or four carloads for free. Loads above that will be $5 per carload and $10 for a pickup truckload. No brush, leaves, tires, construction debris or toxic items including paint, oil, batteries, chemicals or pesticides are allowed. TVs, electronics and metal may be recycled at the landfill. Appliances, furniture, and other household items are allowable for disposal. You must be able to lift items over head into a tall dumpster. For additional information, call the Town Hall, 254-1212.
