Buchanan Elementary School is currently doing a “Blankets and Bears” donation drive through November 15 to help support the students and families at Pinnacle Elementary School in Rutherford, N.C., affected by recent flooding.
Many of these families are currently focused on their daily housing needs and the Buchanan Elementary community wanted to do something special for the children in need. The blankets and stuffed animals collected will be delivered to Pinnacle Elementary before Thanksgiving and will be distributed to the families before Christmas.
Buchanan Elementary bus drivers will be delivering the items collected. These bus drivers were affected by the Flood of ’85 in Buchanan and see this as an opportunity to give back and help those in need like others did for them in 1985.
The public is invited to join the Buchanan Elementary School community in donating new blankets and new stuffed animals. Items can be dropped off at Buchanan Elementary during school hours Monday through Friday through November 15. If you have any questions, call Buchanan Elementary at 540-254-2084.
