Buchanan’s sixth annual Garden Festival drew hundreds of people to Buchanan, filling the garden of the historic Wilson Warehouse and Main Street with visitors from throughout the valley.
Chairperson Peggy Ramsey noted, “This is our largest crowd to date” as festival-goers enjoyed musical performances by Rebecca Bryant– the Singing Cowgirl and Warren and Kelly Amberson. “We are very pleased with the attendance and growth of this year’s festival.”
Revitalization Manager Harry Gleason added, “This year’s Garden Festival has been a huge success thanks to the volunteers who made it possible.”
Members of the Buchanan Special Events Committee spent months behind the scenes planning for this year’s festival, adding some new features to this year’s event including the Children’s Tea Party organized by Sarah Boblett, and the Plein Air Paint Competition. Winner of both People’s Choice Award and Judges Pick Plein Air Competition was local artist Barbara Leigh Crawford of Buchanan.
Gleason noted that “the paint competition attracted contestants from Maryland, Washington, D.C., Florida, Buchanan, Roanoke, Forest and Lynchburg.
