When Buchanan Lions Club members see a need, they respond. Buchanan Lions supports the local Food Pantry which is run and coordinated by the Buchanan Presbyterian Church. The Food Pantry distributes food – twice a month. Lions club members support them individually, but as a club, we help with distribution 6 times a year. At the last distribution, 37 sets of food were handed out supporting more than 80 people. An average set of food for one family includes canned goods, cereal, milk, eggs, and frozen meat. The Lions of Virginia Foundation, Inc. (LOVF) has a matching grant program, with a category for Humanitarian needs. The Buchanan Lions saw the need at the Food Pantry and donated $1200.00 with their application. The matching grant was approved, and on Thursday, October 5, the Food Pantry was presented with a check from LOVF for $2400.00.
