The Buchanan Moose will host its Eighth Annual Fishing Rodeo at Steve Thrasher’s Pond in Springwood on Saturday, May 7, rain or shine. It begins at 11 a.m., with lunch at noon. Activities will include fishing, hay rides, sack races, a 50-50 drawing, and raffle tickets. Every child will receive a door prize.
The cost is $30 for the first child and $20 for additional siblings. Lunch of hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and drinks will be provided. Proceeds will benefit Reagan Repair, who was born December 1, 2021. She was prenatally diagnosed with Down syndrome and a congenital heart defect called atrioventricular septal defect (AVSD). Reagan spent eight days in UVA’s NICU and was stable enough to go home to be with her parents and older sister and brother until her heart operation. She has had countless appointments and procedures to closely monitor her conditions at UVA. Reagan will undergo an extensive open-heart surgery to repair her heart defect so she can live her best life possible. Her surgery was scheduled for the beginning of April.
