Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5895 was the first post in the Department of Virginia to exceed 100 percent membership for 2019-2020. The VFW membership year runs from July1-June 30 and after the first tallies were released in September, Buchanan VFW Post 5895 was the first post to reach the 100 percent goal.
The VFW meets in the Botetourt Event Center, 14860 Lee Highway, Buchanan on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. American Legion Post 93 meets immediately after at 8 p.m. on the same evening. The VFW and Legion members invite all veterans to join them for patriotic comradeship with fellow veterans.
