The Lord Botetourt swim team hit the water in competition for the first time in 2025 with two big meets last week. The Cavs swam against William Byrd in the Gator Center on Thursday, then competed in the All-Timesland meet at the same location on Saturday.
Against Byrd the Cavalier girls took an 83-76 win but Byrd won the boys’ meet, 108-20. Heat winners for the girls included Olivia Nicely in the 200 free, Julia Misicko in the 500 free and Hannah Mizuba in the 100 back. For the boys, Max Mizuba won his heat in the 200 IM and 100 back.
On Saturday in Roanoke the girls’ 200 medley relay team of Analise Buyalos, Anna Harris, Julia Misicko, and Callie Shuler made top 8 in prelims and came in 7th in finals.
Individually, Misicko placed 3rd in the 200 free prelims with a time of 2:08.93 and 3rd in the finals with 2:06.35. Julia was 2nd in the 100 fly prelims in 1:02.74 and 2nd in the finals with a personal record time of 1:02.51.
Buyalos placed 8th in the 200 free prelims at 2:30.61 and 7th in finals at 2:27.25. In the 100 back Analise was 8th in prelims at 1:12.88 and 8th in the finals with a time of 1:14.03
Harris was 9th in the 100 breast prelims at 1:29.19 and finished 9th in the finals at 1:26.87. Sarah Fredrickson was 13th in the 100 back prelims.
For the boys, Max Mizuba, placed 2nd in the 100 back prelims at 55.03, then placed first in the finals with a personal record 53.73. That was a new state cut for Max.
The Cavaliers are scheduled to be back in the pool tonight at the Bedford YMCA.
