Jerry Schneider, “The Butterfly Guy,” visited multiple libraries throughout Botetourt County on Wednesday, July 19 and Thursday, July 20. He presented “Butterfly Heroes,” a vivid slideshow of Eastern butterflies. Participants learned the how, where, and when of the amazing Monarch migration, in addition to obstacles the butterflies face each fall and spring as they make their way to and from Mexico. Schneider also discussed differences between butterflies and moths, where to find butterflies, and how to attract butterflies to our gardens, along with all sorts of interesting butterfly facts and behaviors. After the show, children created their own tie-dye butterfly t-shirts.
