A good, honorable, hardworking man who loved his family, friends, pets, and farm passed away suddenly Saturday, February 29, 2020.
Frank L. Cahoon Sr. was 78 years old. He was born in Fincastle March 7, 1941 and lived in the area all of his life. Frank was the son of the late Walter C. and Vera Coffman Cahoon.
Frank was a dairy and beef farmer all of his life. He was an outdoorsman and sportsman. Frank played baseball and basketball when he was younger and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and watching sports. He was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Renee Cahoon; brothers: George and Percy; sisters: Lorene Lucas, Frances Green, and Ruth Edgecumbe; and sister-in-law Jeane Hambrick.
Frank is survived by his wife of 55 years, Judy Hambrick Cahoon; son, Frank L. Cahoon Jr. of Fincastle; daughter and son-in-law, Lynda G. Cahoon and Paul Sparks of Roanoke; grandsons: Kaleb Cahoon and Zacary Cahoon; brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Jenny Cahoon of Fincastle; sisters-in-law: Darys Cahoon, Rosalie Cahoon, and Sherry and Randy “Ski” Dluzniewski, all of Fincastle; brother-in-law, Robert E. “Bobby” (Linda) Hambrick of Fincastle; many special nieces and nephews; dear friends: Flash and Ada, Junior, Morris, and many other closer friends and neighbors; and his furry friends, Khloe the cat and Casey the dog.
A celebration of Frank’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 5 at Zion Hill Baptist Church, 2256 Zion Hill Road, Fincastle with the Rev. Robert McRae and the Rev. Lee McIntosh officiating. Burial will be in Zion Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road, Daleville.
