Captain Steve E. Lentz Sr., 80, of Fincastle, “Flew West” on November 19, 2020.
He was born June 12, 1940 in Parkersburg, W.Va. Steve said that his Grandfather had told him at an early age “to pursue a career in aviation.” By the time Steve was 20 years old in 1960 he had earned his Pilot’s License in a J3 Cub and 39 years later ended his career as a Captain on a 767 in 1999 with Piedmont/USAirways.
Captain Lentz spent his life loving his job and family, and sharing wonderful funny stories of both. Steve’s stories will continue to bring smiles, laughter and warm the hearts of those who knew and loved him for generations to come.
Steve is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Dale (Ford) Lentz; three children, Stephen Lentz Jr. (Christine), Christopher Lentz, and Samantha Lentz-Hill; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
