Carroll County defeated Lord Botetourt in Hillsville last week to knock the Cavaliers out of the Region 3D boys basketball tournament. The host Cavaliers took an 81-64 win.
Botetourt hung tough against a strong Carroll County team through three quarters. The Cavs trailed just 56-50 with eight minutes to go before Carroll finished strong.
“A great game for the first three quarters,” said LB coach Josh Aliveto. “They were able to execute on their first two possessions of the quarter and we were not, which put us in a spot we couldn’t overcome for the rest of the game.”
Carson Edwards led LB with 16 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists. Blake Lovern had 13 points.
The Cavaliers finished the season with an 11-14 record. Blake Lovern was named first team All-Region 3D and All-Blue Ridge District. Carson Edwards was second team All-Region and All-District and Landon Hayes and Brady Kish were second team All-BRD.
“We’re disappointed with the loss for sure, but we are more disappointed that we as a team don’t get to work together any more after school,” said Aliveto. “I’m proud and grateful to have been a part of this season. I enjoyed working with this group of players and the coaching staff as we prepared for each game.”
