A CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) training is being offered beginning September 26 through Children’s Trust of Roanoke Valley.
CASA is an individual who has been trained by a local CASA program and appointed by the court to be an advocate for children who are in the system as a result of child abuse or neglect.
National CASA reports 238,000 children nationwide have a CASA volunteer standing by their side, ensuring that their voices are heard and their needs are met, but another 400,000 need help.
In the Roanoke Valley only 30 percent of the children in foster care have a CASA. As a CASA volunteer you can change that by joining a national network of volunteers who are standing up for the rights of abused and neglected children in their community.
Contact Kristin Tadlock-Bell for more information about the fall training by calling 540-344-3579 ext 14 or emailing kristin.tadlockbell@roact.org. For more information about CASA, visit www.roact.org/programs/casa/.
CASA is one of four programs offered through Children’s Trust of Roanoke Valley. Our mission is to prevent child abuse and neglect and provide continuous support for children through investigation.
