The Catawba Valley Farmers Market (CVFM) will open on Thursday, May 6 from 3 to 6:30 p.m. The CVFM is held at the Catawba Community Center picnic shelter, 4965 Catawba Creek Road (Rt. 779), in Catawba.
Consumers will find high-quality, locally produced foods that have been touched by only a few hands and not trucked across the country. Present on opening day will be early spring produce, vegetable and flower plants, hanging baskets, potted plants, meats, baked goods, honey, canned relishes and pickles, and kettle corn. Crafts will include hand-sewn fabric items, copper kettles, paper flowers, note cards, and local photography framed in reclaimed barn wood.
New products for 2021 include microgreens, pasture-raised frozen chicken, houseplants, and matted & framed fine art.
CVFM’s website (catawbafarmersmarket.com) and the Facebook page will be updated frequently, to keep consumers informed of new products available at the market, new vendors, etc. The website will include a calendar showing the vendor schedule, since several vendors are part-timers.
