The Lord Botetourt baseball team is in the midst of a busy week with three games scheduled, including two against Blue Ridge District teams. The Cavaliers were scheduled to play at Northside Tuesday, followed by home games with non-district Salem on Thursday and BRD rival Franklin County on Friday.
Botetourt comes into the week at 7-4 and 2-0 in BRD games. Last week the Cavs opened their district schedule with wins over William Byrd and William Fleming around a loss to non-district Pulaski.
The Cavs slaughter-ruled Byrd in Daleville, 13-3, as Noah Donaho hit a walk-off grand slam home run. For the day Donaho was four-for-four with two home runs and six runs batted in. Noah had five homers for the season and is hitting just under .500.
Garrett Lonker picked up the win on the mound, fanning seven in five innings. Jairdan Pennix and Isaac Nichols also had home runs in the win.
A day later the Cavs were in Dublin to take on Pulaski County and it didn’t go as well, as they were shut out 5-0. Botetourt was held to two hits, one each by Brady Kish and Logan Wingler. Kobe Hairston started on the mound and allowed three earned runs in taking the loss.
On Thursday Botetourt played William Fleming in Roanoke and beat the hapless Colonels like a drum, 22-0. Chase Peck pitched two innings and Wingler pitched three in a no-hit effort. Lonker was four-for-four at the plate while Hairston and Colt Staton were both two-for-two.
