Gavin Walker doubled and Brady Kish singled with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to give Lord Botetourt a dramatic 5-4 walk-off baseball win in Daleville last Thursday.
Botetourt led for most of the game. It was 3-1 Cavs after the first inning but Salem’s Brayden White hit his second home run of the game, a two-run shot, in the top of the sixth to tie the game at 3-3. The Spartans then pushed across a run in the top of the seventh to take a 4-3 lead.
LB’s best hitter, Noah Donaho, struck out to open the bottom of the seventh but Garrett Lonker doubled to keep the Cavalier hopes alive. He moved to third on a ground out by Isaac Nichols and, with two outs, Walker came up big with a double down the left field line. Kish followed with a sharp single through the third-short hole and Walker raced home with the winning run, setting off a wild celebration on the infield.

Logan Wingler picked up the win in relief. Chase Peck pitched the first six innings and allowed just four hits while striking out five. Walker had two hits and two RBIs for LB and Kish also drove in two.
A day later the Cavaliers hosted Franklin County in a Blue Ridge District game and lost 10-3. Kobe Hairston started on the mound and took the loss, allowing just one hit but walking a half dozen. Donaho had two hits for LB and Nichols drove in two runs.
Now 8-6, the Cavaliers will host Staunton River for a jayvee-varsity doubleheader in Daleville Friday.
