The Lord Botetourt girls traveled to Roanoke last Thursday to take on Class 5 Patrick Henry in basketball and returned to Daleville with an impressive win. LB improved to 2-0 on the young season with a 45-32 win over the host Patriots.
“Overall, another strong defensive effort holding PH to 32 points,” said Botetourt coach Renee Favaro. “I was proud of how we handled a little run by them in the third quarter. They beat us that quarter by three points, but we came on in the fourth and handled their pressure to score three straight layups in transition. I’m proud of the grit and defensive effort this group has been bringing so far.”
Madilyn Winterton led the Cavs with her second straight double-double, scoring 25 points and pulling 11 rebounds. Maddie Caron added eight points and eight rebounds.
The girls were scheduled to host a strong Spotswood team on Tuesday, but results were too late for publication. LB beat Spotswood in Penn Laird last week to open the season.
Tonight the girls are back on the road for a trip to Blacksburg and Friday they’re home against Turner Ashby. Next Monday they host E.C. Glass as a very challenging non-district schedule continues.
