The Lord Botetourt volleyball team is rolling along at 14-0 as the Cavaliers take on the second half of their Blue Ridge District schedule. The Cavaliers opened the second half with a three-set win over Staunton River in Daleville last Thursday.
They beat the Eagles by scores of 25-7, 25-6 and 25-13. Becca Huddleston led the team with nine kills and five aces while Savanna Johnson had six kills, Erica Gergely had five kills and three aces and Skyler Morris dished out 21 assists.
In a prior match last week, Botetourt gave Franklin County their first district loss with a three-set win at LB, 25-13, 25-12 and 25-17. Huddleston had 10 kills and four blocks, Morris had 28 assists and two serving aces and Bria Harvey had 11 digs and a pair of aces.
“We had a strong week of district play,” said LB coach Samantha Wilkins. “Our team has been mixing things up and playing with new lineups and we have done well with the change. We are working very well together and are preparing for a long three-game week.”
Botetourt was scheduled to play at William Byrd Tuesday, followed by a home non-district match with Abingdon tonight. The Falcons are 13-5.
On Thursday the Cavs will play their third match in as many days when they host William Fleming.
