The Lord Botetourt boys will be playing in the four-team Titan Basketball Invitational at Hidden Valley High School this weekend.
LB will play Abingdon Friday at 7 p.m. following a 5:30 p.m. game between host Hidden Valley and Bassett. The winners will play at 12:30 p.m. Saturday following an 11 a.m. consolation game.
Botetourt played in the Alleghany Cougar Classic this past weekend against Rocktown from Harrisonburg and Parry McCluer. The Cavaliers lost to Rocktown, 77-66, on Friday night. LB trailed by one point, 35-34, at the half before losing the third quarter with turnovers proving to be the downfall.
“On nights when we are shooting the ball well, we need to make sure we get as many opportunities at our basket as we can,” said LB coach Josh Aliveto. “I liked how hard the kids played, and we improved in some areas.”
Landon Hayes led the way with 24 points, with 15 of those coming from behind the arc.
On Saturday the Cavs picked up their first win of the season with a 74-68 victory over Parry McCluer.
“We played our most complete game of the year thus far,” said Aliveto. “We had a lot of different players contribute to give us a good team win.”
Jairdan Pennix had 24 points to go along with 10 rebounds. Hayes chipped in with 16 points and Landon Gray scored 14 points with eight rebounds. Hayes was selected to the All-Tournament Team.
Botetourt was scheduled to play Salem at home on Tuesday but results were too late for publication.
