Lord Botetourt athletes competed in the Class 3 track meet at Liberty University in Lynchburg last weekend as the site hosted the Class 3 and 4 meets on Friday and Saturday. Class 3 team champions were the Heritage boys and Rustburg girls, and Western Albemarle was runner-up in both.
The LB girls were 30th in the state thanks to a fifth place finish in the 3,200-meter run by Anne Thorne, who ran a time of 11:32.19. Thorne was also 13th in the 1,600 while Alicia Holmes had a personal best with a 14th in the triple jump.
The Cavalier boys were 37th with a fifth in the 3,200 meters by Ethan Thorne. He ran a time of 9:30.31 and was also 10th in the 1,600. Triston Graves was 13th in the 300-meter hurdles.
