The Lord Botetourt girls pulled out a win over Cave Spring in a non-district softball game in Daleville Monday. LB came from behind for a 3-2 win.

Cave Spring took a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the second when LB rallied. Maia Folk was hit by a pitch, followed by a single by Maegan Barnes. Lauren Hoffman then doubled in Folk to cut the Knights’ lead in half.

Meredith Wells was up next, and she ripped a double into the right centerfield alley to score two more runs and give LB a 3-2 lead. That was all she would need on the mound, as Meredith went the distance to pick up her ninth win in 10 decisions. She scattered eight hits and struck out three while LB played errorless ball behind her.

The Cavaliers are now 14-3 overall, splitting two games last week. On Tuesday they thumped William Fleming, 18-0 in five innings, as Wells pitched a perfect game. She struck out nine and retired all 15 batters she faced without a walk or an error by the LB defense.

Offensively, Folk had four hits, Hoffman had three hits and four runs batted in and Barnes had two hits and drove in two.

On Friday in Moneta the Cavaliers dropped an 8-2 game to host Staunton River. LB had only four hits but two home runs accounted for their runs, one by Hailey Deter and one by Wells. Hoffman took the loss on the mound.

The Cavs are at Rockbridge on Thursday and home to Northside on Friday.
