The Lord Botetourt golfers continue to pull away in the Blue Ridge District season tournament as they won the round for the third time last week. The Cavaliers carded a four-player 149 in a nine-hole match at the Hanging Rock Golf Club in Roanoke County.
LB’s round was seven strokes better than Franklin County, who came in at 156. William Byrd was third at 162, followed by Northside at 168 and Staunton River at 179.
After three rounds and 47 holes the Cavaliers now hold a 59-stroke lead over Franklin County for the season series, 742 to 801. Byrd maintained third place at 826 with Northside at 847 and Staunton River at 895.
Individually, Alisa Davidova of LB continued her fine play with a four under par 31 to take medalist honors at “the Rock.” Also scoring for the Cavaliers were Hayden Firestone at 39, Aidan Mitchell at 40 and Jeremy Simmons with a 42. Davidova leads the individual standings and LB has four of the top five spots with Mitchell third, Firestone fourth and Simmons fifth.
This week the BRD tour hits Blue Hills for a Tuesday match that was too late for press deadlines. The Cavs have a non-district match at Blacksburg Thursday and next Tuesday it’s back to the BRD battles with a match at Mariners’ Landing.
