The Lord Botetourt girls scored seven of their eight runs on home runs as they defeated Rockbridge in softball last week. LB took an 8-5 win in Lexington.
Sophomore Hailey Deter blasted a three-run homer to highlight the game. Meredith Wells had a two-run shot and both Maia Folk and Kenleigh Gunter hit solo homers in the win. Kloe Bacon had the other RBI for LB.
Lauren Hoffman was the recipient of the offensive outburst as she picked up the win on the mound. Hoffman pitched five innings and struck out five before Wells came on to pitch a perfect sixth, and that was the last complete inning as the game was halted due to darkness.
With the win LB improved to 13-3. The Cavs have a busy schedule this week as they were scheduled to play at William Byrd on Tuesday. Today they play at William Fleming at 4:30 p.m., then bus back to Daleville to host Northside at 7:30 p.m. in a game that was rained out last Friday. Then on Friday, they play Byrd again in Vinton.
