The Lord Botetourt boys basketball team will have their home opener on Thursday when the Cavaliers host Alleghany. The Cavs were set to open Tuesday with a game at Blacksburg.

LB returns junior Blake Lovern and seniors Evan Bannwart, Brayden Wells and Danny Kidd from last year’s team that finished 14-11 and lost a thriller to Abingdon in the regional tournament. Sophomores Brady Kish and Landon Hayes are expected to add to the rotation after LB graduated point guard Jackson Crawford, who is now playing at Emory & Henry, and three-point sharpshooter Tyler Meade.

“Our guys are excited about the season and this year’s team,” said coach Andrew Hart. “It looks like we will have nine varsity players returning from last year’s squad. They are ready to step-up into new roles this season and showcase the hard work they have put in during the off-season. We are hoping to play with maximum effort and challenge the best teams on our schedule.”
