Lord Botetourt High School representatives surprised graduate Zack Kelly by retiring his No. 9 Cavalier baseball jersey at halftime of last Friday’s football game against Northside in Daleville. Kelly is a pitcher for the Major League Baseball Boston Red Sox and a member of the LB Athletic Hall of Fame. Left, Cavalier baseball coach Todd Smith (left in photo) and LB athletic director Tim Fulton present Zack with a framed LB jersey from Zack’s days pitching for the Cavs. Kelly also took time to talk to the Botetourt Brawlers 8U baseball team while he was in town. He stressed the importance of getting good grades, playing multiple sports, being competitive and having fun. He also signed a lot of baseballs and gloves for the boys and posed for a group picture with the team (right).
