After having been on the job for roughly two months now, Grant Holmes, the executive director of the Botetourt Chamber of Commerce, was introduced during yesterday’s Botetourt County Board of Supervisors meeting.
Holmes, who joined the chamber at the end of May, was introduced by Ken McFadyen, the director of economic development for the county.
McFadyen noted that Holmes was born and raised in Ohio, but has called the Roanoke Valley home for quite some time now. “He brings to the chamber over 25 years of experience in business, including the founding of various business endeavors and organizations,” he said. He went on to note that Holmes has been involved in several local mentoring program.
“It is truly a pleasure to be in Botetourt County. I’m honored to be in the best county in Virginia,” Holmes said.
He discussed the upcoming Emerging Leader Series that the chamber announced earlier this month. “We’re really looking forward to it,” he said. He stressed that Lesa Hanlin, who chairs the Botetourt Chamber of Commerce’s Business Growth Committee, was instrumental in bringing the series together. The chamber, he said, is still looking for sponsors for the various sessions.
The first event in the series will be on September 19. Titled “Leading Teams for Growth,” it will be led by Robyn Tuck from Virginia Western Community College.
Looking ahead, he said that the chamber’s fall banquet is currently being planned. It will be held at Virginia Mountain Vineyards. “They have a really awesome facility.”
“I’m glad you’re here. I’m happy to have you here. Thanks for moving us forward,” Vice Chairman of the Botetourt County Board of Supervisors Dr. Mac Scothorn, who represents the Valley District, said.
“We look forward to working with you. I hope we have a long and fruitful relationship,” Chairman of the Botetourt County Board of Supervisors Billy Martin, who represents the Blue Ridge District, said.
